The primary glimpse that pops up in the minds of people could be a desert, lined with miles of salt which appears pristine white. Indeed, Kutch is known for its White Rann! This is a nature’s marvel that is muddy throughout monsoons and returns to its snowy white splendor during summers and winters.

Although the White Rann of Kutch receives the utmost traveler attention, it is beyond the silver land. This region is also known for its exceptional resonance lent by villages with heritage art forms, distinctive colorful house doors, pink flamingos, bustling markets, textile experts, boat-builders, festivities, musicians and potters, and gastronomical Gujarati thalis.

Kutch is incomplete without the engaging processes of customary skills that have for hundreds of years, provided sustainability to the locals. Among artisans, women have outshined in craft processes, most of all as independent embroiderers and traders. Their sense of style and product development has attracted great respect over time that students and academics from renowned textile schools globally, return to learn from them. These locally skilled communities give a description of the golden heritage of India.

Neighboring Bhuj, within the city of Mandavi, is marked by the tides of the Arabian Sea and the presence of the Rukmavati River. Across the river is a quaint neighborhood that houses the colorful homes of fishing communities, boat builders, sailors, mosques, and Sufi shrines.

Vijay Vilas Palace

The Vijay Vilas palace of Mandavi has made a business of lending the venue for Bollywood shoots. The fairylike summer palace of the Raja of Bhuj with its picturesque setting overlooking the Arabian Sea has played host to film industry songs.

The journey of Kutch is endless. The conversations of stories under stones, festivities, humbleness of people, their craft and ingenuity are praiseworthy. The Kutch world knows and the Kutch we express is beyond the expression. You experience Kutch right from your heart and still fall short of the words.
