- I still lay with my 9 year old son until he falls asleep… He hates the dark and
leaves the lamp on… - They miss closeness before bed.. Mine sleeps with me and once he is
asleep, my husband carries him to his room.. - Many times a week, my son comes back in my bed in the middle of the
night…but we still make sure that he falls asleep in his room every night. - Try sensory lights, calm music for a while…when he is in his bed.
- My son has a compression blanket. It slides over the mattress, so it acts like
a constant hug. It’s not too tight so he can still move about comfortably.
We also a have a calming Disney songs’ lullaby CD with classical
instruments. - Sensory lights help my daughter stay in her room…
- Night lights, Christmas lights…and a favourite stuffed animal..
- Try putting sign/child’s name on the bedroom door…tell him “this is now
your(child’s name) room”… stay consistent in sending him to his room to
sleep.. - Their need specific light in child’s room makes the room personal to them..
